The necessary information enters the computer from the crankshaft position sensor, installed at a certain distance from the flywheel. Based on this information, the ECU selects from the values \u200b\u200bof the ignition timing stored in its memory (UOP) optimal for given engine operating conditions and provides signals to two high energy ignition coils with two high voltage outputs each.
Spark discharge occurs simultaneously on two spark plugs (1 and 4 or 2 and 3 cylinders). a working spark discharge occurs at the end of the compression stroke, and an idle spark discharge occurs at the end of the exhaust stroke.
Characteristics of the electronic ignition system
The minimum voltage for system operation is 5.6 V.
The resistance of the primary winding of the coil is not more than 1.6 Ohm.
The resistance of the secondary winding of the coil is 15 kOhm + 15%.
The distance between the crankshaft position sensor and the flywheel is 0.8-1.2 mm.
Spark plugs - Champion RC 6 Y or Motorcraft AGP 902.
