The oil pump with internal gears is driven from the camshaft through a worm gear (pic. 2.71).

Oil pressure at its temperature of 80°C: at a crankshaft speed of 750 rpm - 0.6 kgf / cm2; at a crankshaft speed of 2000 rpm - 1.5 kgf / cm2. At higher speeds, the oil pressure must not exceed 5.0 kgf/cm2. Reducing valve actuation pressure 2.41-2.75 kgf/cm2. The gap in the engagement of gears is 0.14-0.26 mm. the gap between the gears and the pump cover is 0.025-0.060 mm. between the outer gear and the housing 0.14-0.26 mm. Brand and model of the oil filter Motorcraft EFL 101, Purflux LS 188, AC SE, Guiot GH 966. The emergency oil pressure sensor turns on a red warning light on the instrument panel at an oil pressure of 0.3-0.5 kgf / cm2.


Removal, dismantling, assembly and installation of the oil pump


Unscrew the three bolts securing the pump to the cylinder block and remove the oil pump (pic. 2.72).



Remove the pump cover to access the gears. Knock out the pin of the pump drive worm gear. Remove drive gear, pump shaft with pump drive gear assembly and driven gear. Remove the piston and pressure reducing valve spring. Wash the pump parts in trichlorethylene and blow off with compressed air. Check the technical condition of parts and replace parts. Permissible clearances are shown above. Replace worn parts. The pump gears are replaced by a pair. Lubricate the parts, assemble the pump in the reverse order of disassembly. install a new oil seal, fill the pump with oil and install it in place.
