Brake system

Working brake system:
  • front brake with solid discs for models with GMA, GPA, GLA, and JPA engines and ventilated discs for models with engines of other models;
  • rear brake mechanism - drum with automatic adjustment of the gap between the shoes and drums;
  • brake drive - hydraulic double-circuit with diagonal separation of circuits, with a vacuum booster and a pressure regulator, regardless of the load. The parking brake is manual, with a cable drive on the brake pads of the rear wheels.

Brake fluid level in reservoir

After the first 2,500 km of run, and then every 10,000 km of run, check the brake fluid level in both compartments of the reservoir of the master brake cylinder and top up if necessary: the fluid level should be at the mark «max».

In the event of a significant decrease in the level of brake fluid in the tank, check the tightness of the hydraulic circuits. Brake fluid is chemically aggressive. When topping up, do not allow liquid to get on the painted surfaces of the body.

If this cannot be avoided, wash off the liquid with plenty of cold water.

Bleeding the brake system

If there is too much free play on the brake pedal and it is necessary to repeatedly press the pedal to brake the car, it is necessary to perform an operation to bleed air from the hydraulic circuits.

After 60,000 km or every 3 years of operation, it is recommended to replace the brake fluid in the entire brake system.

Brake care

After the first 2,500 km of run, then every 10,000 km of run, as well as in case of overheating of the brake mechanisms, it is necessary to check the condition of the friction linings of the brake pads of the front and rear wheels and replace the pads if necessary.

NOTE: The brake clearance is maintained automatically.

Parking brake

The parking brake blocks the rear wheel brakes. for which it is enough to sharply pull up to failure the parking brake lever.

To unlock the brake mechanisms, you should slightly pull the lever even up, drown the release button and lower the lever down to the stop.

Parking brake warning lamp

The control lamp is located in the center of the instrument cluster, lights up when moving up (puff) parking brake lever and goes out when the lever is returned to its original position (all the way down)

On some modifications of the car, the parking brake warning lamp is connected to an electric fluid level sensor in the reservoir of the master brake cylinder. Its ignition in the process of driving the car requires checking the brake circuits at the earliest opportunity.

Maintenance of the parking brake consists of checking and adjusting the tension of the cable, as well as lubricating the lever system every 10,000 km.
