Installing a hydromechanical gearbox

First of all, you need to make sure that the torque converter is in the correct position: it must be in contact with the gearbox at three points. Install the gasket on the centering sleeves of the rear engine cover. Install the hydromechanical gearbox in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE: Install new circlips on the drive shafts, which must fit into the side gear grooves.

Lower the vehicle and remove the engine holding bracket. Tighten the mounting bolts at the top of the box housing. Install the forced reverse gearshift drive linkage to the gearshift control valve shaft (pic. 3.46), without tightening the nut.



On the right side of the engine, install, tightening the two bolts, the thrust bracket. Then tighten the tie rod nut on the side of the box housing. Make sure that the selector lever in the passenger compartment and the selector shaft lever are in position «D», connect the selector cable to the axle lever. Connect the starter interlock switch connector. Connect the negative cable to the battery. Check the oil level in the crankcase, top up if necessary. Adjust the forced reverse shift actuator as described below.
