Loosen the two bolts and remove the tie rod bracket from the right side of the engine. Loosen the two mounting bolts at the top of the box housing. Install the engine mount. Raise the car with a jack. Disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission. Remove the selector cable bracket. Disconnect the wires from the starter and remove it. Disconnect the wire from the reverse light switch. Loosen the two screws and remove the drive flange cover. Remove the hexagon socket bolt and nut and disconnect the lower control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle on the right side. Remove the wheel drive shaft from the gearbox, to do this: move the wheel as far outward as possible, insert the lever between the gearbox housing and the hinge, placing a wooden spacer under the lever so as not to damage the crankcase, and hit the lever with your palm. Collect escaping oil in a prepared container. Hang the wheel drive shaft to the body like this. so that the angle of fracture of the inner hinge does not exceed 20°, and the outer one - 45°. To hold the side gear in place, install a mandrel or old joint instead of the drive shaft. On the left side, disconnect the tie rod from the steering knuckle, disconnect the lower arm from the steering knuckle and from the body. Remove the left wheel drive shaft by placing the lever in the special notch of the hinge. Remove the front gearbox support.
Remove the nut from the recoil buffer. Remove bracket with stabilizer. Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the oil sump. Remove the rear box support assembly. Rotate the drive flange by the rim, unscrew the four fastening nuts and separate the torque converter from the drive flange. Loosen the four gearbox mounting bolts. Place a jack with a stand under the gearbox crankcase and, applying force, separate the torque converter from the drive flange towards the box and remove the gearbox, observing the precautions.
WARNING: The torque converter is filled with oil and is held on by mounting bolts.
