Mounting generators
1 - tension bar; 2 - V-belt; 3 - generator; 4 – an arm of fastening of the generator; 5 - bracket; 6 - cover; 7 - oil protection
Despite the difference in the design of engines and generators installed on cars, the steps for removing and installing the generator are almost the same.
1. Remove ground wire from battery.
2. In a diesel engine, remove the toothed belt guard and the plastic crankshaft pulley cover.
3. Remove heat shield.
4. Remove the connector from the back of the generator.
5. Loosen the mounting bolts, unscrew the tension bolt of the generator and tilt it towards the engine. If a greater tilt of the generator is required, remove the tension bracket.
6. Remove V-belt.
7. Unscrew the two bolts securing the generator to the bracket and remove the generator.
8. The generator is installed in the reverse order of removal.
9. Tighten the pre-screwed generator mounting bolts in the following sequence: tension, then front and rear bolts.
10. After installing the generator, it is necessary to tighten the drive belt.
