Scheme of fuel supply in the fuel system of a diesel engine

From the tank (7) pipeline fuel (8) fed into the fuel filter (1). The purified fuel is sucked in by the high pressure fuel pump (2). By injection pipeline (6) pressurized fuel is supplied to the injectors (5). A small amount of fuel that passes the injectors and is not injected into the cylinders through the return line (3 and 4) enters the fuel tank.

The system is designed to clean and supply atomized fuel to the engine cylinders in the amount necessary for the corresponding mode of operation.

The power system includes a rear-mounted fuel tank, fuel filter, high pressure fuel pump, injectors, high and low pressure fuel lines.

The suction line exits the fuel tank, runs along the floor of the vehicle to the fuel filter in the engine compartment. The fuel entering the filter is cleaned and then sucked in by the fuel pump. At a pressure of 120–130 bar, fuel is supplied by a distribution pump through pipelines to the injectors. In this case, the fuel supply exceeds the demand for it by the injectors. Excess fuel is returned through the return line to the fuel tank. Fuel flow is also used to lubricate the moving parts of the fuel pump and injectors.
