Rotary pump — general information

            0

The rotary pump is a high pressure fuel pump assembly. It sucks fuel from the pipeline coming from the filter.

The pump rotor, in which movable gates are installed, rotates in the housing bore. In this bore, the rotor has a slight offset from the center. The gates touch the walls of the bore of the pump housing, and the rotor rotates when the engine is running and, thus, the gates are pressed against the housing by centrifugal force. This is how the gates are sealed in the housing.

When the rotor rotates between the gates, there is a certain volume of fuel, which decreases towards the discharge side of the pump, towards its outlet, and the fuel contained in this volume is squeezed out of the pump.
