The contact ignition system of the classical type includes a battery, an ignition switch, an ignition coil, a distributor, additional resistance, high-voltage wires and spark plugs.
The drive of the distributor of ignition is carried out from a camshaft. The ignition timing is set by centrifugal and vacuum ignition timing controllers. An additional cam is installed in the Lucas distributor, which shifts the breaker contacts to the sides relative to each other, which reduces local erosion of the contacts and increases their service life.
