Thermal time switch

The thermal switch is located under the intake manifold on the air duct flange of the second cylinder and controls the start injector depending on the engine temperature.

Checking the thermal time switch is carried out on a cold engine without removing the switch.

Examination

1. Remove the electrical connector from the starting injector and connect a 12 volt test light instead.

2. Remove the high-voltage wire from the ignition distributor and connect it to an additional spark plug fixed to the engine.

3. Turn on starter. With a cold engine, the control lamp should burn for up to 8 seconds. Otherwise, the thermal switch must be replaced.

4. If necessary, you can remove the thermal time switch from the motor by disconnecting the connector and unscrewing the switch, and check the resistance between the contacts. On one of the faces of the thermo-time switch, the switch-on temperature is stamped - 35°С and the switch-on time is 8 seconds at -20°С.

5. Connecting an ohmmeter to the contacts, check the resistance (see table. Resistance test).
