Checking the parking brake box FORD ATX

            0

The check is made on a warm engine and gearbox. Each check should last no more than 5 seconds, otherwise the units may fail due to overheating. The check is made if the maximum speed and dynamic characteristics of the engine have noticeably deteriorated.

1. Connect a tachometer to the car engine.

2. Secure the vehicle using the parking and service brakes.

3. Start the engine.

4. Set the gear range selector to position "D" and briefly fully depress the accelerator pedal. The engine should increase the speed to 2700±350 rpm.

5. Re-check the speed in this position of the lever after 30 seconds.

6. Final check in position "R" lever.

7. When checking, keep in mind that engine speed drops by 125 rpm for every 1000 meters of elevation above sea level.

8. If the engine speed is less than 200 rpm, it is necessary to check the ignition timing, cylinder compression and fuel supply adjustment.

9. If the engine speed does not reach the norm by more than 200 rpm, the overrunning clutch in the converter may be defective.

10. If the engine speed is too high, the forward clutch or the first overrunning clutch may be slipping.
