Drive shaft sealing ring
1 - sealing ring; 2 - normal state of the working edges; 3 - worn working edges; 4 - drive shaft; 5 - lubrication
1. Check the condition of the working edges of the sealing rings and, if necessary, replace them.
2. Removing the sealing ring from the socket can be done as follows. Drill two holes in the end part of the sealing ring, screw self-tapping screws into the holes and remove the sealing ring by the screws.
3. Before installing a new sealing ring, apply a layer of lubricant to its working edges and, using a pipe of the appropriate diameter, insert it into the seat.
4. Thoroughly clean and lubricate the splines of the drive shaft and hub.
5. Insert the drive shaft into the steering knuckle.
6. Insert the wheel hub onto the splines of the drive shaft and tighten it as far as possible using tool 14-022 (1 - steering knuckle, 2 - hub, 3 - fixture 14-022, 4 - drive shaft).
7. Remove the fixture, install the washer on the shaft and screw on a new nut without completely tightening it.
8. Remove the plugs from the gearbox and insert the drive shafts into place, rotating the drive shaft until its splines are fully engaged with the differential side gear, and then press on the wheel until the shaft is fixed with a retaining ring (indicated by arrows).
9. Install the brake disc and brake caliper.
10. Screw on the transverse link, insert the ball joint into the steering knuckle and tighten to the required torque.
Attention! Never turn the Torx bolt when installing the control arms.
11. Pour oil into the gearbox.
12. Lower the car.
13. Tighten the finally lubricated wheel hub nut and secure it from unscrewing by embedding the collar of the nut into the drive shaft groove.
