Withdrawal
Short console with manual transmission (models up to 1996).
Unscrew the knob from the shift lever. Remove the lever guard and holder. Unscrew 4 screws and remove the console (see fig. 11.78).
Long center console (models up to 1996 release)
Remove the negative terminal from the battery. On models with a manual transmission, remove the shift knob, protective cover and holder.
On models with automatic transmission, set the lever to the position "R". Unscrew the gear lever knob, then use the lever to remove the gear indicator scale and holder (see fig. 11.79).
On vehicles with power windows and a power trunk lock, use the lever to remove the switches from the center console and disconnect the electrical connectors from them. Unscrew 4 nuts and 2 screws securing the center console (see fig. 11.80).
Fully tighten the handbrake and lift up the center console.
Center console (models from 1996 release)
Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
On models with a manual transmission, remove the handle from the shift lever, protective cover and holder. On models with automatic transmission, set the lever to the position "R". Unscrew the knob from the shift lever, then use the lever to remove the gear indicator scale and holder.
Remove the switches from the back of the center console and disconnect the electrical connectors from them. Tighten the handbrake to the stop and remove the protective cover from it.
Unscrew 4 nuts and remove the protective coating of the gear lever with the mounting plate. Open the glove box cover at the rear of the center console and unscrew the screw at the bottom of the glove box.
Remove the center console along the handbrake lever and gearshift lever and remove from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
