General information

The body and underframe on all models are made from forged and welded parts including front and rear crumple zones and a rigid center section. To protect against corrosion, multi-stage anti-corrosion protection is used. It consists of phosphate coating of some groups of parts, wax spraying in closed sections and PVC coating of the bottom.

All cars use retractable seat belts, and since 1994 an automatic front seat belt tensioner called "grabbers". In the event of a severe frontal collision, the inertial sensor releases the coil spring, which tensions the front belt. If the automatic belt tensioner is activated, it cannot be reused.
