Hydraulic unit
Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the brake fluid level sensor in the brake fluid reservoir cap and hydraulic lines of the valve body. Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir. Mark brake pipes and disconnect them from the main brake cylinder. Stopper tubes (see fig. 9.65).
Unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the pipes from the back of the hydraulic block. Close the pipes with plugs.
Unscrew the nut securing the electrical connector and the nut with the bolt securing the hydraulic unit to the bracket. Remove the block from the bracket (see fig. 9.66).
Using a lever, remove the brake return pipes from the hydraulic unit (see fig. 9.67). Close them with corks.
Installation is done in sequence. reverse withdrawal. Top up the brake fluid and bleed the air from the brake system.
ABS module
Remove the negative terminal from the battery. The module is located at the rear of the engine compartment on the side opposite the battery. Disconnect the clip and remove the connector from the ABS module. Unscrew the 3 mounting bolts and remove the module from the engine compartment (see fig. 9.68).
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
ABS sensor mounted on a vehicle wheel
The ABS sensor mounted on the wheel of the car is fixed in front of the steering knuckle. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Disconnect the connector from the ABS sensor wire. Unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the sensor from the steering knuckle.
Installation is done in sequence. reverse withdrawal. When installing the sensor in the socket, check that the mating surfaces are clean and free of oil.
Wheel-mounted ABS ring sensor
Remove the steering knuckle, then the wheel hub from the knuckle.
Unscrew bolts of fastening of the ring gauge to a nave. In some cases, the ring sensor is pressed onto the hub. Therefore, use a puller to remove the sensor from the hub.
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Before installing the ABS ring sensor into the hub, clean the mating surfaces.
