Withdrawal (models without airbag)
Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
Turn the key in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel. Set the front wheels straight (see fig. 10.38).
Using a lever, remove the horn button (see fig. 10.39).
Using a lever, remove the inner horn block and disconnect the electrical wires from the block (see fig. 10.40).
Unscrew the steering wheel central bolt Grabbing the steering wheel from both sides, pull it towards you and remove it from the steering column (see fig. 10.41, 10.42).
Models with airbag
Attention. Handle the airbag with extreme care to avoid injury.
Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
Attention. Wait 15 minutes before carrying out any further work on the airbag. This time is needed to dissipate the energy stored in the capacitor.
Unscrew 2 screws and remove the top casing of a steering column.
Turn the steering wheel so that one of the airbag mounting bolts at the rear of the steering wheel becomes accessible. Unscrew the bolt and turn the steering wheel again until the second airbag mounting bolt is accessible. Unscrew it. Remove the airbag unit from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the unit.
Unscrew 4 screws and remove the lower casing of a steering column.
Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the lower instrument panel under the steering column (see fig. 10.43).
If present, unscrew 1 screw and remove the passive anti-theft system (see fig. 10.44).
Remove the steering column wiring harness from the mounting brackets and disconnect the electrical connector from the airbag wiring harness (see fig. 10.45 am).
Set the steering wheel in a straight position. Remove the key from the ignition lock.
Remove the steering wheel center bolt, then insert the key into the ignition lock and turn it to the "I". Grab the steering wheel from both sides and. Pull it towards you to remove it from the steering column.
Installation (all models)
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
