Replacing rear axle bushings

            0

Raise the rear of the car and secure it on stands.

Position the jacks under the rear axle beam and raise them just enough so that the weight of the beam is supported by the jacks.

Unscrew the bolts and nuts securing the rear beam to the body, then lower the beam so that the bushings come out of the suspension mount. When lowering the beam, watch the stretching of the brake hoses. Using a steel tubular mandrel of suitable diameter, flat washers, a long bolt and nut, remove the bushing from the rear axle beam.

Clean the bushing seat and lubricate the new bushing with soapy water. Using a mandrel, washers, bolt and nut, install the new bushing in place.

Raise the rear axle beam and secure it to the suspension mount. At this stage, do not completely tighten the hinge bolts of the rear beam to the suspension bracket. Lower the vehicle and tighten the rear axle pivot bolts to the correct torque.
