Withdrawal
Remove the cap from the desired side of the wheel to gain access to the driveshaft mounting nut. Using a suitable drift, unbend the hub nut blocking collar and loosen the nut. Raise the front of the car and fix it on stands. Remove the corresponding front wheel.
Unscrew the bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the bracket on the A-pillar (see fig. 10.3).
Unscrew the caliper mounting bolts. remove it and hang it to the body on a wire with a brake hose connected. If installed, unscrew the ABS wheel sensor. To do this, loosen the bolt and remove the sensor on the steering knuckle. Remove the wire from the fasteners.
Remove the cotter pin and unscrew the castellated nut securing the tie rod ball joint Unscrew the nut and remove the tie rod ball joint from the steering knuckle with a puller (see fig. 10.4-10.6).
Unscrew the clamping bolt securing the ball joint on the lower transverse arm and squeeze the arm out of the steering knuckle.
Unscrew the screw securing the brake disc and remove the disc from the hub. Unscrew the nut securing the drive shaft to the hub and remove the nut with washer. Unscrew a bolt of fastening of a rotary fist to an amortization rack. Insert a suitable tool or a wide screwdriver into the clamping groove of the steering knuckle and open the steering knuckle. Take the shock absorber out of it (see fig. 10.7, 10.8).
Install a universal puller on the steering knuckle and press the drive shaft out of the steering knuckle. Using a soft wire, hang the outer part of the drive shaft under the wheel arch.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points:
- check that all mating surfaces are clean;
- Lubricate the hub splines with molybdenum disulphide grease. When installing the drive shaft, do not displace the hub bearings;
- tighten all bolts and nuts to the specified torque. Install a new pin to secure the tie rod nut. When installing the lower bolt of the transverse arm to the steering knuckle, install the bolt in its original place and hold it from turning when tightening the nut.
- install a new drive shaft mounting nut and secure it from loosening by caulking its shoulder into the groove of the drive shaft.
