Relieve pressure in the fuel system

            0

Attention. Depressurizing the fuel system does not relieve the fuel system of fuel. Therefore, when working on any part of the fuel system or when disconnecting it, be aware that fuel spills can occur.

The fuel system contains a fuel tank, which contains a fuel level sensor and a fuel pump, a fuel filter, a fuel injector, a pressure regulator, metal pipes and flexible fuel lines connecting these components. The system is pressurized when the engine is running or immediately after it is turned off. Before carrying out any work on the fuel system, it is necessary to depressurize it.

The simplest method of relieving pressure is to turn off power to the fuel pump. This can be done by removing the fuel pump fuse or by disabling the red button on the automatic fuel switch, then start the engine at idle and wait until the engine stops due to a drop in fuel system pressure. To check for pressure relief, try cranking the engine several times with the starter. After finishing work on the fuel system, do not forget to install the fuse or press the red button of the fuel pump circuit breaker.

After depressurization of the fuel system, it will take much longer to start the engine with a starter, because it is necessary to fill the fuel system with fuel and create pressure in it.
