Withdrawal


Remove the oil pan. Remove the crankshaft pulley.

In the manufacture of the engine, a common gasket for the chain cover and the water pump is used. Drain the coolant and remove the water pump.

On Endura-E engines. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor wiring connector.

Unscrew the mounting bolts, and use the lever to remove the chain cover. Clean mating surfaces of cover and engine.

If necessary, replace the crankshaft front oil seal.

Installation


Lightly lubricate the front end of the crankshaft and the sealing lips of the front crankshaft oil seal (installed in the lid). Install gasket and cover, and secure with bolts. One of the bolts that also secures the water pump must be tightened after installing the water pump.

On Endura-E engines. reconnect the camshaft position sensor multi-pin connector. Install the water pump. Install the crankshaft pulley. Install the oil pan.
