Withdrawal

The oil pump is mounted on the back of the engine.

Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Unscrew and remove the oil filter. The oil filter is unscrewed manually.

Unscrew the three mounting bolts and remove the oil pump from the engine (see fig. 2A.28).



Clean the traces of the old gasket from the mating surfaces of the pump and motor.

Installation

If the oil pump has been dismantled or if a new pump is to be installed, it must be filled with engine oil before the pump is installed. To do this, turn the pump drive shaft and at the same time inject clean engine oil into the pump.

Position the new gasket on the pump mounting lug, then insert the pump, aligning the drive, and bolt the pump (see fig. 2A.29).



Notice the new gasket. Install a new oil filter. Lower the car and check the engine oil level.
