Withdrawal


Remove the cylinder head cover.

Unscrew the four mounting bolts, and remove the valve train assembly from the cylinder head.



Inspection


For removing the rocker shaft assembly. remove the pin from one end of the shaft, then remove the spring and washers from the shaft.
While sliding, remove the rocker arms, bearings, and coil springs from the shaft, and position them in the same order in which they were installed (see figs 2A.9, 2A.10).





Clean and check the parts for wear Check that the oil holes in the shaft are clean.

Check the working surfaces of the rocker shaft and levers for wear. Replace if necessary. worn parts

Installation


Lubricate the rocker shaft with fresh engine oil.

Installation is made in sequence return to removal Make sure. that the recess on the washer at the rear end of the rocker arm shaft is located on the side of the rocker arm set screws. This is necessary for proper lubrication of the cylinder head components (see fig. 2A.11).



Install the rocker arm shaft assembly. Check that the valve adjusting screws are in contact with the tappets.

Tighten the rocker arm axle mounting bolts, first by hand, then finally to the required torque.

Adjust valve clearances.
