Attention. While it is theoretically possible to remove the oil pump while the engine is in the vehicle in practice, this requires a lot of pre-dismantling and is difficult to accomplish due to limited access.

Attention The oil pump pressure relief valve can be removed from the engine installed in the vehicle.

Remove the toothed belt. Remove the crankshaft pulley and axle ring. Remove the tray. Remove the screws securing the oil pickup tube with strainer to the pump, then remove the oil pickup tube. Remove the gasket.

Unscrew a bolt of fastening of the pump to the block of cylinders. Remove pump and gasket. Remove the right crankshaft oil seal. Thoroughly clean all components, especially the mating surfaces of the pump, sump and cylinder block (see fig. 2C.50).

Examination

Loosen the Tox screws, remove the pump cover and remove the rotors. Inspect the rotors for wear and wear. The pressure relief valve can be removed without removing the pump. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the front right wheel and drive belt accessory cover.

Unscrew the screw plug and remove the relief valve spring and plunger. If the O-ring is damaged, it must be replaced (see fig. 2C.52, 2C.53).

Install the spring and plunger and tighten the screw plug to the correct torque.

Installation

Before installing the oil pump, fill it with oil, for which, while supplying oil to the pump, rotate the inner rotor of the pump several times. Using the engine oil as an adhesive, glue the new oil pump gasket onto the cylinder block and rotate the inner pump rotor to align it with the crankshaft. Insert the pump mounting bolts and tighten by hand (see fig. 2C.54).

Moving the pump to the side, position it so that it fits exactly around the crankshaft, and the bottom surface of the pump should be flush with the oil pan mounting surface. Tighten the pump mounting bolts to the required torque (see fig. 2C.55).

Install a new right crankshaft oil seal.

Install the oil pickup tube with a new gasket. Tighten the oil pick-up tube mounting bolts to the required torque.

Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
