Checking the regulated voltage

            0

Connect a voltmeter to the positive ("+") battery clamp and ground.

Start the engine and set the speed to about 2000 rpm. The voltmeter under these conditions should show 13.7-14.6 V. If the voltmeter readings exceed 14.6 V, the generator regulator is faulty and needs to be replaced.

If the voltmeter reading is less than 13.5 V, this means that either the regulator is faulty. or the regulator brushes are closed.

Remove the regulator located at the rear of the generator (pic. 7.2).

Install the brush holder. Lock clamps "Dr" And "DF". Connect a test light between the following terminals: battery positive terminal and "Dr" or "DF".

If the alternator is not damaged, then the control lamp lights up when the engine is not started, and goes out when the engine is running.

If the control lamp flashes, then the stator winding is damaged or the diodes are faulty.

The regulator is also a brush holder and must be replaced as a set.
