The flywheel interacts with the clutch. One of the friction surfaces of the clutch disc touches the flywheel. The surface of the flywheel that interacts with the clutch disc must be checked by determining its wear and inspecting whether there are any marks on it caused by high operating temperatures (clutch disc slip).
Withdrawal allowed (as a result of boring) layer 1.0 mm thick on the side of the working surface of the flywheel. Visually inspect the ring gear on the flywheel. whether it has broken or damaged teeth. Assess also the degree of wear of the ring gear. In case of damage or significant wear of the ring gear, it must be replaced. To do this, use a hammer and a steel rod with a diameter of about 25 mm and remove the ring gear from the flywheel.
Heat up the new ring gear to 180°-230°C using, for example, a hot air blower. The temperature can be determined by the color of the part, which should turn gray. The seating surface must be thoroughly cleaned.
The heated crown is installed on the flywheel in one quick motion. Pay attention to the fact that the cuts on the ends of the teeth are on the side from which it is required. They should point towards the starter movable gear.
