Checking the camshaft of a diesel engine 1.8

The camshaft actuates the valves using pushers. The height of the pushers is adjustable with washers. Spare parts kits include washers with a thickness of 3.00-4.75 mm. Thickness designations are placed on the bottom surfaces of washers.

Valve clearances on a cold engine should be:

• for inlet valves - 0.35 mm.
• for exhaust valves - 0.50±0.05 mm.

The camshaft is functionally connected to the crankshaft. For the correct installation of the camshaft, a key is used. made at its end, as well as installation marks on the crankshaft belt pulley and engine housing (pic. 2.86).



The tension of the timing belt of the distribution drive is regulated by a spring tensioner with a roller.
