In the 1.1 engine, the camshaft is located in the engine housing and is driven by a chain tensioned by a mechanical tensioner.
To mutually set the position of the crankshaft and camshaft, the symbols placed on the chain gears are used. These signs should be opposite each other on the same line when the piston of the first cylinder is at TDC.
The camshaft, by rotating its cams, moves the pushers placed in the holes of the engine housing. The movement of the pushers is transmitted by rods to the levers and valve stems, which are placed in the block head. The pushers are inserted into the holes from the bottom of the engine housing. For this reason, it can only be removed after removing the oil sump.
