Removal and installation of the steering mechanism

Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are in the straight ahead position.

Unscrew the clamping bolt on the shaft of the gear wheel that moves the rack. Remove clamp bolt (pic. 5.2).



Separate the steering joints at the connection of the transverse steering rods with the levers of the steering knuckles (pic. 5.3).



Unscrew bolts of fastening of the case of the steering mechanism to an end partition of a body.

Remove the gear from the engine compartment by pulling it out on the right side of the bottom of the car (pic. 5.4).



The steering mechanism is installed in the following order:


Enter the steering mechanism into the engine compartment and install in the installation position.

Set the steering wheel to the middle position, the steering gear also set to the middle position.

Connect the gear shaft of the mechanism to the steering shaft in such a way that the clamping bolt can be freely inserted into the holes intended for it.

Bolt the steering mechanism to the end bulkhead of the body.

Tighten the bottom bracket nut of the hydraulic booster mechanism (pic. 5.5).



Install the steering joints connecting the tie rods to the steering knuckle arms.

Establish a convergence of wheels according to the data placed in section 1.1.
