Removal and installation of a steering column

Disconnect the vehicle ground wire from the battery clamp.

Remove the manual suction cable handle.

Remove the upper and lower steering shaft covers.

Remove the hood latch control cable. Disconnect the cable from the lever and steering column bracket.

Remove the ignition switch (pic. 5.7).



Unscrew the clamping bolt connecting the steering shaft and the gear shaft that moves the steering gear rack.

Unscrew the steering column from the bracket.

Pull the entire assembly, that is, the steering column together with the shaft and steering wheel, up and out of the car. The column is installed in the reverse order. In this case, pay special attention to the installation in the middle position of the steering wheel, shaft and steering mechanism. After that, tighten the clamping bolt connecting the steering shaft to the steering mechanism.
