Note: If you have difficulty removing the steering wheel, hit the steering shaft hard once through the brass rod with a hammer. This impact will cause the steering wheel tapered deposit to disengage from the steering shaft.

Take out the plug of the top support of a steering shaft.

Remove the steering shaft from the column.

Knock out the pin blocking the ignition lock with a rod and pull out the lock drum with a key. During this operation, the key must be in the position "1".

Remove the upper and lower bearings from the steering column (pic. 5.9).

The steering shaft is installed in the following sequence.

Install the top and bottom bearings into the column tube.

Put the spring on the steering shaft (B, fig. 5.9) and an equalizing ring under the bearing (WITH). Then place the spring and ring under the lower steering column bushing (F, fig. 5.9).

Insert the ignition lock barrel, remembering that the key must be in position "1".

Install the upper bearing bush on the steering shaft.

Insert a new lower bushing into the column from below (F, fig. 5.9).

Install the shaft in the column and place the assembled unit in the car.

Install the steering wheel and screw it loosely onto the shaft.

Fasten with the help of a second person the connection of the steering shaft to the steering mechanism.

To do this, insert the clamping bolt into the hole, but do not tighten it.

Secure by tightening the fixing bolts, the steering column.

Install the column in such a way as to create a correct seal between the guide sleeve and the bracket.

Fasten the steering column clamp (pic. 5.10).

Connect and install the system switch under the steering wheel (pic. 5.11).

Reinstall the manual suction control cable.

Install the upper and lower steering gear covers.

Set the steering wheel in the middle position, using the sign made during disassembly.

Turn the steering wheel right and left, from lock to lock. Check the full range of steering wheel rotation in both directions.

Tighten the center nut (on the steering shaft) steering wheel mountings.

Check the steering wheel attachment and install the factory badge.
