Ignition switch/steering lock
The ignition switch/steering lock is used to start the engine/steering lock 5 seconds after the key is removed from the ignition switch.
The mechanical part of the ignition switch that blocks the steering rarely fails. The contact group, which provides switching of electrical circuits, may fail due to burnt contacts. Unfortunately, the contact group is not changed individually, it is necessary to replace the ignition switch / steering lock assembly - leave this work to a car repair shop. To check the locking system before leaving the vehicle, look at the control lamp located to the right of the clock. The locking system is only ready for operation when the lamp is on for approximately 3 seconds with the ignition on. The same lamp is equipped with a double locking system (central locking) and anti-theft security alarm. If you have difficulty starting the engine, pay attention to whether the fast flashing rhythm of the control lamps after 1 minute will turn into multiple non-rhythmic flashing. In this case, the system did not recognize the encoding of your key. Remove the key from the ignition switch and try to start the engine again.
Determining the key code
If the control lamp burns continuously for 1 minute, and then starts flashing irregularly repeatedly, the key code detection system has registered an error. First make sure that the ignition key is not shielded by other keys or the keychain. If this is not the cause of the error, try starting the engine with the spare key, or re-code the ignition key with the red sample key.
