On the right and left, between the steering rod and the steering knuckle arm, there are tie rod ends with ball joints. A self-lubricating plastic sleeve covers the steel spherical head of the joint, and a protective cover filled with special grease protects it from dirt and moisture. Replace tie rod ends with a damaged protective boot or large play immediately.
SEQUENCE OF WORK
1. Check the protective covers of the spherical joints of the tie rod ends for external damage (e.g. cracks).
2. Check ball joint play. It is best to do this over a viewing ditch.
3. The assistant must repeatedly and sharply turn the steering wheel to the left and right. At the same time, you can check with your hand whether there is play in the ball joints of the steering rods.
