SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Brake the vehicle with the parking brake, engage 1st gear or reverse gear. When changing a wheel, you must not interfere with other road users and you must ensure your own safety. Be sure to turn on your hazard warning lights and place a warning triangle behind your vehicle.

2. On the back of the vehicle, block the wheels with wheel chocks or rocks.

3. On wheels with stamped steel rims, remove the trim cap by inserting a screwdriver between the cap and the rim.

4. Loosen all wheel nuts by one turn.

5. Jack up the car. The jack is installed in the places of the side amplifier intended for this purpose (pic. 13.36). If the ground is soft, place a piece of board under the jack.

6. Fully unscrew the wheel nuts.

7. Remove the wheel and install a spare in its place.

8. Rotate the wheel on the hub until the wheel bolt holes line up with the wheel hub studs.

9. Screw on wheel nuts and tighten them by hand.

10. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to 90 Н·м.

11. Install the decorative cap. When installing the cap, pay attention to its position by aligning the hole in the cap with the tire inflation valve.

12. After 10 km of run, check the fastening of the wheel nuts again.

PRACTICAL ADVICE

Wheel swap

When replacing a tire, pay attention to its manufacturer. Tires of the same manufacturer must be installed on the same axle. So that the tires of the front and rear wheels wear out at the same time and it is possible to change the tires as a set (four wheels), it is necessary to pay attention to the uniformity of their wear and timely rearrange the front and rear wheels. The wheels should not be rearranged diagonally to the car, but only from the front to the rear and vice versa, as they retain their original direction of rotation. However, this method has a drawback: when replacing after a short run, you may not notice possible errors and malfunctions in the wheel suspension, shock absorbers and steering. When changing tires, make sure that tires of the same manufacturer, profile and date of issue are installed on the same axle (±1 year).
