There are many reasons for a starter failure. The traction switch or carbon brushes may be seized or worn out. The armature shaft may seize in the bearings
SEQUENCE OF WORK
1. Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.
2. Turn away a nut, disconnect the main feeding wire from a starter and remove a control wire from the traction relay.
On a diesel engine, remove the starter support bolt (on the back of the starter housing).

3. Turn out three bolts of fastening of a starter to a coupling crater and remove a starter (pic. 15.13).
