It features quite spacious (for her size) interior, comfortable seats, good wheel suspension comfort and sufficient trunk space, accessed through the rear door. The back of the rear seat, like other cars with a rear tailgate, leans forward to increase the volume of the trunk. The Fiesta, like other front-wheel drive cars, keeps its direction well, the wheel suspension is confident "keeps" road, rack and pinion steering - precise and light. Fiesta motors are famous since the 1960s. designs of the English branch of the company "ford motor" in Dagenham. They were used on the Ford Escort I model, produced before 1975, and are characterized as reliable and trouble-free (mileage without repair up to 100 thousand miles) units that are not critical to the quality of the oil. These are the motors:
- 1.0 l (40 l. s., gasoline consumption AI-93 8.5 liters per 100 km);
- 1.1 l (53 l. s., 8.5 l AI-93 per 100 km);
- 1.3 l (66 l. With., "upper" camshaft, toothed belt; 8.5 l AI-98 per 100 km).
As you can see, 1.0 and 1.1 liter engines are suitable for our operating conditions (the so-called Kent motor), who work on the AI-93. The camshaft of these motors is located in the cylinder block, with valve drive through pushers, rods and rocker arms (like on the Volga or Moskvich 408), this is a reliable and durable design of the gas distribution mechanism. True, it is more expensive to manufacture than a design with "top" camshaft and drive it with a chain or even more so "penny" toothed belt. As already mentioned, Fiesta motors are reliable and durable enough, subject to timely maintenance, such as: valve adjustment (she is simple) and ignition systems, flushing and adjusting the carburetor, timely oil and filter changes (oil and air).
The only engine assembly that often requires attention is the carburetor. If it is incorrectly adjusted, starting the engine in wet or cold weather is difficult. The weak point of the Fiesta is the brakes - both foot and hand. At foot (workers) brakes, the front brake discs wear out quickly, which, in addition, warp when overheated. The handbrake often brakes only one rear wheel. But in general, the Ford Fiesta is a reliable car, the body of which is not susceptible to corrosion. In Cologne, the new Ford Fiesta wins Germany's highest automotive award, a prestigious title "golden steering wheel", awarded by the most popular weekly newspaper "Bild am Sonntag". A jury of experts tested 20 new car models before awarding the best car with this coveted award.
The new Fiesta turned out to be the best in its class, ahead of its competitors. Ford Fiesta is a car with a 25-year history, during which time the model has been produced in more than 10 million copies. During this time, she entered the top three bestsellers in Europe. It has been the top seller in the small class 12 times in Germany, 19 times in the UK, and topped the list of top sellers in Spain, France and Italy multiple times over the past 13 years. The current version looks like a sort of compact mini-van - with a car length of 3917 mm, its height is from 1432 to 1463 mm (depending on the "clamping" suspension and tire size). The car has grown in all dimensions - by 89 mm in length, by 49 mm in width and by 97 mm in height. Base (2486 mm) increased by 41 mm - in favor of the knees of the rear passengers. The wheels are even more moved to the corners of the body -"imprint" cars on the road has become the largest in the class. Pay attention not only to people (the car will be comfortable for five), but even better.
The trunk has grown in volume by 14%, up to 286 liters, and has become larger than that of classmates. It is not just large, but also adapted to the format of suitcases and takes into account, for example, the proportions of a folding baby stroller. The car looks quite solid - due to inflated shapes, widely spaced 14-inch wheels and a large glass area (additional windows appeared in the rear part of the body). The car has three petrol and one diesel engine. The small 1.3 l Duratec 8V develops 58 or 68 hp depending on the modification. The Duratec 16V motor, inspired by the Ford Focus motor, has two versions:
- 1.4 l (80 HP)
- and 1.6 l (100 HP).
- And finally, the new generation 1.4L Duratorq TDCi turbodiesel, co-created with Peugeot. Equipped with common rail direct injection and electronically controlled throttle, it develops 68 hp. and 160 Nm. With this engine, the Fiesta is gaining a hundred in 14.8 seconds. and accelerates to 163 km / h, fuel consumption - 4.5 l / 100 km. Driving the new Fiesta is great fun, as is driving the Ford Focus or Ford Mondeo, the undisputed leaders in their respective market segments.
The advanced safety technology of the Ford Fiesta is based on a solid body structure. Its body is 100% stiffer in collapse and not 40% stiffer in torsional motion than the previous model, although the previous Ford Fiesta is the undisputed leader in safety and protection. The focus has been on ultra-rigid suspension and steering systems. Suspension quality without change (front - MacPherson, rear - twisted beam), but quantitative changes gave the car the handling of a Ford Puma. At the front, the MacPherson strut and control system are mounted on a rigid front subframe that is bolted to the main body structure. When assembled, this subframe is easy to install, easier and cheaper to replace in case of accidents, and it also perfectly isolates the body from noise. A particularly stiff torsion-beam rear suspension system combines fairly high longitudinal stiffness for confident handling with longitudinal spring deflection that helps with light bumper bumps.
The rear suspension is 71mm wider than the outgoing model, giving the Fiesta the largest track size in the small car class, improving lateral stability and handling. The braking performance of the Ford Fiesta corresponds to its dynamic capabilities and, according to the test results of the authoritative German magazine Auto motor und sport, the braking distance is less than 40 m - an indicator worthy of emulation for classmates! The new Fiesta in terms of comfort, capacity and versatility is the leader among classmates, ahead of competitors.
