General information about heating and ventilation

Part of the oncoming air flow enters the passenger compartment through the ventilation grill in front of the windshield. On its way to the cabin, fresh air passes through dust filters and a four-stage blower. And if the smell of perfume sitting in front or unpleasant industrial exhaust gases hits your nose, you will quickly create your own climate in the Focus with the air circulation button. This does not last long, because otherwise, especially in autumn and winter, you will «boil in one's own juice». As soon as the windows fog up, fresh air must be supplied to them again. The air distribution control in the Focus will automatically do this for you and switch back to fresh air. You will achieve the same effect if, after a short pause in the movement, turn on the ignition again. To maintain the transparency of the glasses, the air flow (forced ventilation) slips while moving along the windows.

Forced ventilation ensures constant air exchange even with closed nozzles and windows. Depending on the position of the damper that directs the air flow, a different climate is created in the cabin using the distributor nozzles.

Well thought out air distribution

To do this, fresh air passes through the aluminum plates of the heating heat exchanger and mixes with cold air to the desired temperature level. Without a blower, the ventilation functions according to speed, so when driving for short distances and city traffic, the blower is always «moonlighting» in stage 1 or 2. Benefit: regardless of the driving speed, the air flow is distributed faster in the passenger compartment. The air blower is located in front of the heat exchanger and therefore does not cool the interior even on cold days.

Structural elements of the heat exchanger: 1 - right air guide housing; 2 - heat exchanger; 3 - left housing of the air guide; 4 - heat exchanger housing; 5 - bracket; 6 - gasket.
