The front three-point seat belts are always equipped with a tensioner. In a collision, the belts are suddenly tightened within 10 ms (ignite), and after another 5 ms they fix the occupants by pressing them against the backs of the front seats. This happens automatically. As soon as the hard-coded amount of braking is exceeded, the gas generators ignite and tighten the belts. Work on automatic restraint systems is always a case for professionals, in special courses they trained professional handling of belt tensioners, etc. Please learn the experience - your own safety and the safety of your passengers is worth it.
Important: Disengage the seat belts before bodywork under the vehicle.
Please do not work recklessly in the area of seat belt tensioners: even light blows from a hammer or the vibration of an impact screwdriver can be misinterpreted by the sensors as an accident and cause a fire. For your own safety, disconnect the battery before doing any body work on the underside of the vehicle. Then allow the airbag and pretensioner capacitors to cool down for at least five minutes «discharge».
