Removing the brake booster

Before dismantling the GTZ, make sure that there is no vacuum in the brake booster. To do this, either disconnect the vacuum line from the brake booster or depress the brake pedal several times with the engine off.

Dismantling



Remove the brake master cylinder as described above. The expansion tank for the brake fluid can remain on the GTZ.

On models with ESP, disconnect the brake booster solenoid valve connector

Disconnect the control hydraulic module connector (HCU). Loosen the fastening first.

Remove the brake pipes on the control hydraulic module (HCU). To prevent loss of fluid or contamination, close the brake pipes with rubber caps.

Remove the HCU hydraulic control unit.

Remove the brake pipes.

Remove the brake booster pressure rod.

Loosen the bolts (arrows) brake booster.

Remove the brake booster.

Installation



The pressure rod of the brake booster must be located in the rubber cuff on the front wall without tension. Correctly place the sealing ring on the brake booster, if necessary, fix it with Vaseline.

Mount the structural elements in reverse order.

Bleed the air from the brake system as described above.
