Brake pedal and brake lining

            0

Free travel of the brake pedal (wring out by hand) must be equal to a maximum of one third of the total pedal travel. But with this check, you will not determine worn brake linings, as in brake calipers with free play, there is enough elasticity of the brake piston linings and serial runout (0.05 mm) brake disc in order to automatically depress the brake linings from the brake disc after each braking.

When the pedal is released, the basic setting of the lining in relation to the brake disc and the free play of the brake pedal remain the same, at least until the linings are completely worn away. Then the pedal free play will increase noticeably. In this case, proceed from the fact that the brake linings are worn out or possibly stuck in the caliper, sometimes the brake caliper is also stuck. If the pedal free play has decreased after repeated pumping, then there may be air in the system: find out the root cause, eliminate the damage and remove air from the system as described below.
