Checking the brake system

            0

In order to be able to unequivocally identify potential leaks, the vehicle must be dry underneath. Therefore, choose a non-rainy day to check.

Check all hose connections and connecting tubes, as well as brake calipers. Dark spots and damp spots are a sure sign of leaking brake fluid.

Check the brake hoses. They should not be worn, wet or swollen. In these cases: Install new hoses immediately.

Clean the outside of the brake lines with a cold cleaner. The pipes are protected against rust by a protective synthetic layer, so never use screwdrivers, sandpaper or a wire brush for cleaning. If the protective layer is damaged, lubricate this place with a thin layer of anti-corrosion primer. If corrosive pockmarks, deformation or stone marks are severe, you should replace the damaged parts immediately.

Do all brake caliper bleed valves have protective caps? If not, install them right away.

Regularly spend in spring and autumn (temporary) brake pressure check. To do this, hold the brake pedal fully depressed for one minute, as you do with full braking. The pedal must not touch the floor. Otherwise, the system is leaky (defective cuffs in the main brake cylinder or in the brake calipers). Then inspect the wet areas as well. Accurate check with pressure indicators - work only for the workshop.
