Checking the brake fluid level

            0

Your Focus has a brake warning light on the dashboard. Usually the light goes out as soon as the handbrake is released. If not, check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank located at the height of the front wall under the hood.

If the light flashes while driving, assume that there is not enough brake fluid and one brake circuit has failed. Then, as a rule, the second brake circuit is still operational, so if you drive carefully, you can get to the nearest workshop. Our advice: just in such an important node for safety, it is not necessary to trust automation - it’s better to periodically look yourself to see if everything is in order.

Stages of work

The expansion tank with brake fluid is located at the height of the front wall under the hood. Check the brake fluid level regularly.

Even with a functioning brake system, the brake fluid level drops. Cause: worn brake pads. The pistons come out of the brake collets, and the resulting increased volume behind the piston in the cylinders is quickly compensated by the brake fluid.

As long as the brake fluid level in the expansion tank is between the MIN and MAX marks, there is no cause for concern.
