Removing the battery

            0

Before disconnecting the battery, write down all the codes of your Focus, such as the radio's anti-theft code, its transmitting stations stored in memory, etc. If you forgot to do this, then after that the radio will be silent. In addition, electronic control of operational systems «will forget» most of the information. It quickly switches to the emergency program and usually recovers in driving mode (Max. 16 km). To prevent this from happening to your car, go to your Ford dealer and reprogram the PCM - the procedure takes a few minutes.

This advice applies to all jobs that disconnect the battery.

Stages of work

Remove the battery cover. In order to avoid a short circuit, first disconnect the battery minus wire. To do this, loosen the clamping nut and disconnect the terminal from the battery pole.

Loosen the positive wire terminal and remove it.

Unscrew the battery bracket.

Unscrew the battery bracket

Remove the battery from the engine compartment.

When installing, make sure that the battery sits securely on the console (shaking crumbles lead plates).

When installing, first connect the positive, then the negative wire. The wire terminals cannot be mixed up, since the battery poles have different thicknesses.

Lightly lubricate the poles with Ft 40v 1 acid-protecting grease to avoid sulphation (Bosch) or vaseline.

Re-enter the radio anti-theft code.
