Mounting the V-belt

Never tighten the V-belt on the belt pulley with a screwdriver. Otherwise, as a result of kinks in the carcass of the V-belt, you will already program its subsequent damage. After installation, let the used V-belt run for 3 minutes on site (with a new V-belt approx. 10 min) and check the preload again. After about 1000 km of run, recheck its tension (3-5 mm).

Stages of work



Loosen the clamp bolt on the alternator tension bracket.

Loosen the bolts on the swivel base.

Tilt the alternator towards the engine.

Replace the old belt with a new one.

Carry out installation in reverse order.

If the V-belt breaks



If the red charging light comes on while driving, this indicates a broken V-belt. Often you will notice a hard impact on the wheel arch or on the front of the body in the engine compartment. You must under no circumstances continue the journey. Since the V-belt drives the water pump, the circulation of the coolant stops, the stationary coolant quickly boils in the engine block, and you risk total engine damage. Therefore, install a spare V-belt immediately or have the vehicle towed to the nearest workshop.
