Opening windows
Power window front windows are standard on Focus vehicles, with the exception of the Ambiente 3-door variant, which has manual front windows.
On vehicles with power front windows, the opening function in "one touch" only available for the driver's window.
The function of general closing of the front and rear power windows in the Focus is optional. All windows have an opening function "one touch" and closing "one touch" in combination with the anti-pinch function, which is activated every time the window is closed. The global closing function can only be activated with a remote control key.
The multi-function switch in the driver's door activates a safety switch that, when activated, will block the rear door windows from being opened by the rear door window switches. However, the rear windows can still be opened using the switch in the driver's door.
Vehicles with power windows for the front and rear windows require initialization of the motor for each window. Initialization is performed before the vehicle leaves the factory. However, the initialization process must be carried out again after every power outage.
Initialization is done by pressing the window switch and closing the window completely. When the window reaches the fully closed position, the switch must remain pressed for one more second, then the switch must be released and pressed again for one second.
Fixed windows/Straight glazed windows
The Focus is equipped with a heated rear window as standard on all models and can be equipped with a heated windshield as an option.
The windshield, rear window and rear windows are installed by direct glazing on the flange of the window opening using polyurethane (PU) adhesive tapes. In addition to securing the glass to the window opening flange, the adhesive tape also creates an airtight seal along the inside edge of the glass.
For good bonding and insulation of direct glazed windows, it is essential to use the right materials and ensure that the PU adhesive cures.
NOTE: If the ambient temperature drops below 10°C, artificial adhesive heating should be applied (using a hot air blower).
The curing time of the adhesive depends not only on the temperature, but also on the relative humidity of the air. Curing time in a warm humid environment is shorter than in a cold dry atmosphere.
NOTE: A film of water on the glass bonding line or on the window opening flange prevents the adhesive from bonding the two surfaces correctly.
Before applying a strip of PU adhesive, it is necessary to remove all moisture in the glass bonding line and in the window opening using a hot air blower.
For direct glazing operations, in addition to the Ford repair kit tools, you will need a vibrating knife, a set of special knives, a cassette gun and two glazing suction cups.
