Wing — removal and installation (Body and coating / Body panels / Ford Focus 1 1998-2004)

Withdrawal

1. General information

The procedures for the left and right wings are the same.

NOTE: If only one fender needs to be replaced, it is not necessary to completely remove the front bumper and headlight. In this case, it is enough to disconnect the headlight and bumper from the wing. However, the following procedure describes the complete removal process.

2. Remove the front bumper. See Section 501-19 for more information.

3. Remove the wing mudguard. Remove the screws.

4. Remove the headlight assembly. See Section 417-01 for more information.

5. Disconnect the top wing flange.

6. Remove the seal.

7. Remove the washer reservoir filler tube.

8. Turn out a bolt from a rack And.

9. Remove the fender.

10. Disconnect the turn signal repeater electrical connector.

Installation

NOTE: The vehicle must be on a level, level surface. The door is required to be fully closed and have even clearances to the A-pillar, rear side door, or rear side trim panel.

Install the wing.

1. Install fender, install and hand-tighten all screws.
2. Check and adjust gap and edge alignment with door (4.0 mm±1.0 mm).
3. Tighten the rear top screw.

2. Align the position of the wing.

1. Tighten the front screw on the edge of the fender apron panel.
2. Carefully close the hood.
3. Adjust the gap between the fender and the hood, open the hood and tighten the front screw on the edge of the fender apron panel.
Gap between fender and hood: 4.0 mm±1.0 mm.
Gap between wing and door: 4.0 mm±1.0 mm.
4. Turn the edge in relation to the door.
5. Tighten the screw on the A-pillar, working from the side of the wheel arch.
6. Check the clearance to the door and tighten the lower screw in the lower body trim panel.

3. Check all clearances and tighten screws.
