Withdrawal


All cars

1. Remove the dust cap.



Vehicles with rear disc brakes

2. Remove rear brake disc Refer to Section 206-04 for more information.

CAUTION: To avoid damaging the wheel hub nut, use a socket wrench when removing it.


Remove the wheel hub.
  • Remove the wheel hub nut.



Vehicles with rear drum brakes

CAUTION: The wheel hub removal described in this procedure is for installing new wheel bearings, not for accessing the brake components.


Remove the wheel and tire assembly. See Section 204-04 for more information.

5. Release the parking brake.

CAUTION: To avoid damaging the wheel hub nut, use a socket wrench when removing it.


Remove the wheel hub.


  • Remove the wheel hub nut.



Installation


Vehicles with rear drum brakes

CAUTION: Do not hit the wheel speed sensor ring.


CAUTION: Make sure the wheel speed sensor ring is clean.


CAUTION: Do not allow any contact between the wheel speed sensor ring and the magnetic surface.


CAUTION: The wheel hub nut can be reused four times, note the wheel hub nut.


NOTE: Do not fully tighten the wheel hub nut at this stage.


Install the wheel hub.

CAUTION: To avoid bearing damage, rotate the brake drum 10 times in the opposite direction when tightening the wheel hub nut.


Tighten the wheel hub nut.



3. Apply the parking brake.


4. Install wheel and tire assembly. See Section 206-04 for more information.

Vehicles with rear disc brakes

CAUTION: Do not hit the wheel speed sensor ring.


CAUTION: Make sure the wheel speed sensor ring is clean.


CAUTION: Do not allow any contact between the wheel speed sensor ring and the magnetic surface.


CAUTION: The wheel hub nut can be reused four times, note the wheel hub nut.


NOTE: Do not fully tighten the wheel hub nut at this stage.


Install the wheel hub.

CAUTION: To avoid bearing damage, rotate the brake drum 10 times in the opposite direction when tightening the wheel hub nut.


Tighten the wheel hub nut.



7. Install the rear brake disc. See Section 206-04 for more information.

NOTE: If the dust cap was damaged during removal, a new dust cap must be installed.


Install the dust cap.
