Inspection and verification
WARNING: Batteries contain sulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. In addition, when working near the battery, wear protective goggles to protect against possible splashes of battery acid. If acid comes into contact with the skin or eyes, immediately flush the affected area with water for at least 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention. If acid is swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Batteries normally produce explosive gases which can cause personal injury. Therefore, keep fire, sparks, or flammable substances near the battery. When charging the battery or working near the battery, always protect your face and eyes. Always provide adequate ventilation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
1. Check the validity of the customer's complaint.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage.

3. If there is an obvious cause for the problem you identified or the customer described, fix it before proceeding with the next steps (if possible).
4. If the cause of the problem is not visually obvious, check the symptom and refer to the Symptom Chart.
