Air distribution and purification

To ensure uniform air distribution, a new heating and ventilation system has been developed. Distribution valves are controlled by a simple rotary switch with five positions ("niche for legs", "footwell/anti-fogging", "niche for legs / at face level", "at face level" And "fogging prevention"). See Section 412-01 for more information.

Heating/Ventilation

Coolant constantly flows through the heater core. The heating efficiency is controlled by a mechanical air temperature valve.

All vehicles have an air recirculation function for which a servomotor-driven damper is provided. If the air recirculation function is selected, it remains enabled even after the ignition is switched on or off. See Section 412-02A / 412-02B for more information.

Air conditioning

The air conditioning system is installed as an optional equipment, i.e. at the request of the client. The air conditioning system works on the principle of a pipeline with a jet. Temperature control is done manually. There is currently no semi- or fully automatic temperature control. The type of piping with a jet and the installation position of the service ports are the same on all variants.

The compressor is a capacity controlled Scroll compressor. The compressor is similar to the one used in the 1996 Fiesta diesel vehicles. Identification code - FVS 090 (Ford Variable Scroll).

Vehicles for the North American market are equipped with an FS10 type compressor. See Section 412-03 for more information.

The compressor has a built-in thermostat; at compressor outlet temperature (on the high pressure side), equal to 115°C, this relay cuts off the power supply to the electromagnetic clutch.

To replace the evaporator, the entire air distribution housing must be removed.
