The interior lighting system can be switched on using the three-position switch located in the front interior lamp dome, which (switch) provides the following choices:
- interior lamps are on when the door is closed (I).
- interior lights are off.
- interior lights are on when the door is open (I).
- Interior lamps turn on with a delay after closing the door (to her).
If a delay is set for the interior lamps, these lamps will turn off as soon as the ignition key is turned to start the engine.
12 second delay function controlled by central timer module (CTM) on vehicles built up to 08.2001 or with a common electronic module (GEM) on vehicles manufactured from 08.2001.
When the CTM or GEM receives input from a door lock mate switch or remote control transmitter, it will activate the interior light function, which switches the interior light relay to turn on the interior light. CTM or GEM allow a 12 second delay before turning off the lamps. This timer function is reset if any of the inputs are reactivated within the specified period.
