Water pump housing (1.8L / 2.0L / 1.6L Zetec-E) — removal and installation

Withdrawal

1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.

2. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Section 303-01A / 303-01B / 303-01C / 303-01D / 303-01E for more information.

3. Remove the timing belt idler pulley.



4. Disconnect the water pump hose.



5. Turn out the bottom bolt of fastening of the case of the water pump (shown below for clarity).



6. Turn out the top bolt of fastening of the case of the water pump.




7. Remove the water pump housing.



8. Remove the water pump from the water pump housing.

• Discard O-ring



9. Remove and discard the o-ring.

Installation

NOTE: Install a new water pump o-ring.

NOTE: Install a new water pump housing o-ring.

1. Replace the elements in reverse order.









5. Fill in cooling liquid in the cooling system. For more information, refer to the chapter Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding Air from the Cooling System found in this section.
